When I first created the concept of APRICOTE for researchers and scientists, I wanted to first invite a group who will believe or support us for what we are trying to built is for them and to progress together.
The non-surprising first step is to share with friends and immediate network, which I did.
I shared with a select group of researchers who are in my circle of friends and are in the space of R&D.
Some responded supportively. Some extended their support further by giving constructive feedback.

Some ignored my numerous attempts (via Linkedin message, direct emails and Whatsapp messages). Others chose to wait-and-see.
Obviously I had rejections too. Of which, one is from my best friend. Of course, she did it in the most gentle way ever. But naturally, I was still slightly disappointed.
This is the reality of life. Some hard knocks are required to find the way forward and evolve to find a better fit.

Then I saw an interesting post recently by Alexander Alonso, it daunt on me that perhaps I have not identified the true group of early believers (a.k.a. early adopters). The cold start problem Andrew Chen has indicated in his book is very real.

Not even the best products have a 100% conversion rate even if the company identified the most relevant user segment.

So the question is where are the early adopters to test your MVP or to get feedback for pre-MVP? Often they may not be your immediate circle of influence.

Sometimes it is good to expand the search for your early believers globally. I am glad to share that our community is currently across 4 different countries, and interestingly with a common interest in sustainability.

To those doing research or navigating your R&D career path, don't give up. If you are not appreciated, do not be angry, that only means you are not in the right place and perhaps just wrong timing.

Finally, I want to share a few words of appreciation to our early believers/supporters. Thanks for joining us and as we grow, these will always stand:
๐Ÿ“Œ The advantage of being our early adopter is that you can help dictate the product direction.
๐Ÿ“Œ You'll always be part of our APRICOTE family, who will enjoy first-hand future benefits and perks.

๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ How many of you have faced similar cold start situations? Let's connect, share our stories and support each other. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผKat Neo

๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ If you are in the R&D field, itโ€™s just hard to neglect your great work and I am interested to follow your research progress. Let's connect/follow each other and grow together in 2022!

๐Ÿ™‹๐ŸผIf you are interested in what APRICOTE could do for you, find out more here:

If you are a PhD, postdoc, researcher, scientist, principal investigator, professor or heading a research team, please take a moment (2mins) to share your view:

If you are not full time in R&D, but interested to connect with our research community or contribute, please indicate here:

I've created an explainer MVP and posted on my LinkedIn post. The video is my novice attempt to create an explainer MVP. For this, I will like to credit contributions from video and music creators from andย

Ended my journey as Class President at University of Pennsylvania! Four years and four election campaigns later, I can't believe it's over!

It's been one of my greatest honors fostering community for the Class of 2020, breaking records for the greatest class ever. So many traditions lived on through us and many new ones were also created: a 1,100 person museum gala, a 12-day event pop-up, a school-wide photo campaign, and so much more.

But the real success was the friends we made along the way. Can't wait to see what we all go on to do!
