Stepping Up to Lead the Zyte Platform Team

Reflection on being a Senior Product Manager for the Zyte platform services, my primary responsibility was to ensure a seamless customer experience across all products. This included effective onboarding and education, comprehensive usage statistics, streamlined subscription management, and a smooth checkout and billing process.


The Platform team lacked direction and leadership, with high attrition, low motivation, and a lack of engagement. The Head of Development had other priorities, so I stepped up as a de-facto leader. Despite not being a developer myself, I managed a team of 12 front-end and back-end engineers, coaching them through complex problems around billing and resolving technical debt.


My focus on team cohesion, continuous improvement and cultivating a commitment to learning allowed the team to deliver high-quality work despite complex release cycles and capacity issues. As I reflect, this experience has uniquely positioned me to bring value as an executive, with valuable lessons learned and a strong leadership approach.
