In 2019, airport traffic congestion was becoming a major pain point for customers. To help make the curbside space as efficient as possible, we introduced a new pin-code exchange based matching system.
This was a huge project, that required changes to the driver app, rider app, and matching systems. There was also a new physical operations element for managing queues of riders at the pickup area to enforce the just-in-time nature of matching and ensure traffic kept moving quickly.
We shipped this out at many airports in 2019, but ramped it down when COVID-19 shut down the world and roadway traffic was no longer a problem to solve.
