Gave a talk
Taught GraphQL
Gave my first (ever!) talk on GraphQL DataLoaders at This Dot Labs JavaScript Marathon! Had to live code and (of course) live debug, which was terrifying, but it was also exhilarating and I'm so happy to have pushed myself outside my comfort zone. Excited to give more talks in the future!

With Twilio's SIGNAL Conference 2021, I got to see my first team project go live and be used by more than 10,000 attendees, and our API received more than 13 million requests! It was exhilarating to see such a big project be completed in under 6 months, and I got to work with an incredible team as well.

Couldn't ask for a cooler first project in my career.

Spoke on Launchies Podcast
Today my episode of the Launchies Podcast went live! I chatted with Pachi about how I got into tech, taught myself to code, gained confidence, and found my first tech job at This Dot Labs. Plus I share a bunch of my tips for other newbies with unconventional backgrounds trying to break into tech.

TLDR; Just start, find your learning style, and don't let limiting beliefs get in your way of achieving what you want.

My first big(-ish) feature went live today and didn't break prod! πŸŽ‰

This feature was several GitHub Actions workflows to automate translations for a client site. I'm a GitHub Actions ninja now! πŸ±β€πŸ‘€

Wrote a Blog Post
Wrote first blog post
The first blog post I've written since middle school got published on the This Dot Labs Blog! Here I share some of the benefits of software/development apprenticeships and some of the tips I'm bringing with me in mine. πŸŽ‰

It’s no surprise that over the past year, many have started switching careers into tech. I was one of thousands of people that hopped on the β€œLearn to Code” train last year after losing my retail job. Being without a college degree, I looked into programming because it was one of the few industries where you could teach yourself the necessary skills without a long and expensive college education. As with many things though, the process of learning to code, and finding a job, proved more difficult than expected...
