👦🏻 FROM BOY TO MAN 👨🏻

Tomorrow is International Men's Day (19th November). The annual holiday celebrates "the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities" and aims to raise awareness of men's wellbeing.

Thanks to Shubhpreet Kaur for having me on your Little Wisdom Podcast this season. In this podcast episode, we spoke about my experience growing up in Singapore, the expectations I faced from boy to man, how I decided to take an unconventional path in my growing years, and breaking stereotypes of what a "man" is supposed to be.

Men face some common social pressures about how they should behave, feel and think. This restrictive model of manhood is often presented as something natural, with the suggestion that men are just born this way and that a ‘real man’ doesn’t have to work at being a man.

Toxic Masculinity needs to be addressed! We need to educate our future generation in a healthier way. Men should be allowed to display our emotions, get vulnerable, feel weak. It's time we stripped away stereotypes and cultural expectations.
