Like many spiders, I'm a web developer. The similarities mostly end there, though I've been known to swallow the occasional fly while running long distances, which is another thing I like doing for some bizarre reason that I don't fully understand.

I've also been an ESL teacher, writer, and professional craft beer taster, and I was actually paid to do two of those things!

I like working on projects with JavaScript and Python in my spare time, but hey, I'm not a complete nerd--I also play board games.

Integrated Cloudinary into Strapi
Using SvelteKit
Used Strapi
+ 1
My site, AndrewBraun.dev, runs using a Strapi CMS connected to a SvelteKit frontend. I set up Cloudinary as the upload provider for Strapi and adjusted my code to receive auto-optimized images from the Cloudinary CDN. Users with modern browsers will now receive AVIF/WebP, while older browsers will receive JPG/PNG or some other legacy format.

Wrote a custom WordPress plugin that extends JetPackCRM functionality to email agents every day and remind them who they need to contact. Not publish-ready, but works very well on the site it's meant for!

I used SQL queries, WP Cron, activation hooks, and wp_mail.

I set up an Ubuntu server on Linode with Nginx, PostgreSQL, and Strapi as a content management system for my developer site, AndrewBraun.dev. I'll access the content via API calls from SvelteKit, possibly with images hosted on Cloudinary.

Using Svelte
Wrote JavaScript
Used Snowpack
+ 1
I considered rebuilding my personal site in vanilla JS, but thought it might be worth picking up Svelte instead, since it would be great to add a speedy, lightweight framework to my arsenal so I have an alternative to React/Next/Gatsby and Vue. So I set up a Svelte project with Snowpack and got into it!

Optimized Wordpress
+ 4
I optimized a WordPress VPS Apache server by implementing PHP-FPM, setting up HTTP/2, installing Redis, and tweaking other backend settings. Together with some frontend optimization, PageSpeed desktop score went from 30-40 to 80-90!
