The Friend of Singa campaign was initiated with the purpose of cultivating desirable behaviours and values in students. The theme for the Friend of Singa campaign in 2019 is "___, Be Greater". Through a student-initiated project, my team members and I created a campaign to advocate against casual racism. We got the opportunity to interview multiple students and teachers about their experience on casual racism, and provided a sharing with the school population of what it is and its potential effects on others and, in the larger scale, society. In the end, we produced a video of the interviews conducted and managed to get feedback from the student population about casual racism; 70% stated that they now understand what casual racism is and 74% shared that acts of casual racism were no longer observed amongst their peers. Being part of this project was certainly an eye-opener for me; while I had multiple slip-ups - including not being able to settle on lunch! -, we all covered each other for each of our weaknesses and managed to produce a project that has left a reasonable impact on the school. While I had not driven most of the discussions and conversations with regards to the project, I've tried to provide my take where needed. In the end, we've gotten somewhere I think is reasonable enough to look back and reflect upon!
