Launched It's a Date, I Think


It's a Date, I Think was one of the very first pieces I did when I started my job at Boston University, and created for their alumni magazine, Bostonia. I had a lot of fun with the inforgraphics. My idea was to have people subvert expectations and stereotypes by taking a "guess" with each question, and seeing how close their guess was to the actual results. My hope was that they'd be surprised.

I didn't create the original survey, but almost a decade later, I can see so much I would have done differently, especially in choices of color, iconography, and how people identify on the gender scale. I think for its time and what I knew then, it was interesting, but has a lot of room to grow now that I know more.

This piece was selected for inclusion in the 49th Publication Design Annual, published by the Society of Publication Designers. From the annual's description:
