Fluxus Fungus

"What if our indeterminate way of life was not the shape of our bodies, but the shape of our movements over time? Such indeterminacy expands our concept of human life, showing us how we are transformed by the encounter. Humans and fungi share these transformations here and now through the encounter. Sometimes they look for each other." Anna Tsing

Since my adolescence, I have always been enchanted by the magical universe of fungi and mushrooms. I took some photographs when I was 14 years old, since my first cybershot camera. Found Tuane Eggers work over 12 years ago on Flickr. I was able to send my photos to compose the artist and photographer's final master's project, and couldn't be more proud of the connections that nature, art and the internet can bring us. <3

"Dive into the magical world of fungi. From mushrooms that clean up oil spills to underground fungal networks that help trees communicate:"

Shared a personal reflection
Last January, I set myself a small target of 12 books for the year. As of last week, I had finished my 52nd book. One of my friends recently asked me: "Was I reading the whole book?". The answer is YES! :)

I initially thought one book a month would be a stretch target, but as I started to read, I realised I was enjoying it more and more. So one book a month became one book a week and sometimes two.

🔎 The average person reads around 40-60 pages an hour.
📚 The average book is around 350 pages.
🕰 That's approximately 7 hours a week.
🧘🏻‍♂️ That's one hour of reading a day.

What's also interesting is that I've been keeping notes the whole time using Roam Research. The founder Conor White-O'Sullivan talks about divergence in thinking at the beginning and then convergence near the end. Roam Research acts as a wiki, so it helps you connect your thoughts and ideas. You can then look back and see how your views have evolved.

My only advice for reading is to start. Yes, it will be mentally taxing initially, but once you form the habit, you will find your flow.

What's your favourite book this year?

At our 9th and last meetup "Mulheres de Produto" (womans in tech and product) of the year at Movidesk, where we talked about "Product Internationalization" with Cristiane de Abreu and also a retrospective of the year here in Blumenau, with the organizers of the meetup.

Software internationalization projects have grown a lot and are gaining space in meetings and events across the country, but large companies like Google and Samsung have been adapting their systems internationally for years. Software internationalization involves many steps and also many people. Thus, understanding who the people involved are, how this process affects our work, and what my role is in this process opens doors for the professional growth of each one of us. So let's talk about our roles and share experiences.

7th meetup of the community "Mulheres de produto" with the theme "Decisional fatigue and the world of digital products", with designer Débora Martins, located at AmbevTech (HBSIS).

Have you ever spent a long time trying to choose which series to watch or which dish to order at delivery, and in the end, chose the same thing as always?

This is «Decision Fatigue» she explained a little more to us on how it works, and how it impacts our lives as users, tech, ux and business. The lecture is based on two articles that Débora wrote and were published in UX Collective.

6th Meetup "Mulheres de Produto", with theme "Empathy that empowers with": Michelle Campos and Thais Pompeo.

The way we communicate within society (whether professionally or not) greatly influences decision-making and the relationship between those involved. It's natural to hear that communication is the "problem", so how do you improve that?

Nonviolent communication proposes a new way of communicating and the focus is on dialogues based on empathy. We have in front of us several resources and connections that are ever more agile. However, the more technology advances, the less our capacity for empathy seems to be.

At this event, will focus on discussing and deepening the great gains and benefits of clear and empathetic communication - opening up quality space for dialogue and negotiation.
