I've been working to develop some robust VMware vRealize Automation 8 templates and workflows to help streamline our server deployments, and I stood up a self-contained VMware homelab on an Intel NUC 9 to give me a sandbox for testing these things. 

This post details the environment setup, including ESXi installation, domain controller and vCenter deployment, internal networking with a VyOS virtual router, a nested vSAN cluster as a deployment target, and (finally) deployment of the vRA 8 virtual appliance.
