Reliable access to electricity is the cornerstone of our high-tech and digital world. It facilitates economic progress and makes our life comfortable.
However, electricity currently has one important — yet limiting — feature. It must be used at the very moment it is produced. In fact, we are only just learning how to efficiently store it on an industrial scale.
On May 20 2021, DTEK will officially launched Ukraine’s first industrial 1 MW energy storage system with a capacity of 2.25 MWh.
This is a historic event for the Ukrainian energy sector, and this is FIRST ENERGY STORAGE DAY!
We are not only launched a new high-tech facility designed to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the country's energy system, but also initiated a nationwide discussion on the prospects for further developing Ukraine’s energy storage market and the need for corresponding legislative regulation.
Energy storage systems are the key to Ukraine's energy security. They can:
- balance the grid by ensuring the necessary flexibility to promote decarbonisation and accelerate the transition to green energy;
- instantly adjust the grid frequency and guarantee electricity quality;
- help Ukraine synchronize its power system with ENTSO-E.
We believe that this project will not only allow DTEK to create a new energy storage market in Ukraine, but also contribute to the active transformation of our energy sector.
