Started a new role at Fetch Rewards
I made it! I'm an SDET now 🎉

I spent a long time learning to code on my own, and learning the ropes of user support & software QA at Fetch.

3 years, 2 months, and 9 days, from the day I started learning front-end web development on freeCodeCamp, which would turn out to be my most empowering resource. Without that platform, I don't know if I'd have been as motivated to keep learning.

Many failed projects, bugs, and 2 failed whiteboarding interviews later, it all paid off.

New brand, new domain, new website
Finished redesigning and redeveloping my personal website

I started from scratch, sketching wireframes and creating Figma mockups before writing a single line of code. I wanted a website that was attractive with a responsive UI. I wanted it to be able to host my latest projects and ideas with very little user friction.

I have to say I'm happy with the results.

Started a Blog
Huzzah!! I started my Hashnode blog! 🎉

I wanted an outlet for motivational writing and my desire to help others by sharing new knowledge gained by working in the tech industry.

There are a lot of ways to give back, and I don't want to limit myself to just one, so I thought a blog would be good to have for when I just feel like writing.

Holy cow, I'm a Functional QA Analyst! 🎉

This moment was super special to me, because not only was it my first salaried role, but it was also my first technical role at any company. I learned so much more than I thought possible about tools and technologies I'd never have used outside of a job.

This role made the tech world real to me, something I could touch and experience firsthand. The funny thing is, prior to failing a software engineering internship take-home project and being told to apply to QA, I had no idea what QA people did. Now I wish I'd known years ago. It's so fun!

I'm a Client Support Specialist at Fetch Rewards! 🎉

After working so many retail and customer service jobs, I couldn't believe I'd actually made it to a tech company. The best part? All emailing, no phone calls! No face-to-face interactions with difficult customers.

Obviously there's still navigating the nuances of email communications with unhappy people, but this was a whole new world for me. Not to mention, startup culture? Pretty awesome.

Started a new role
What?? I'm a Shift Lead at Walgreens! 🎉

This was my first ever management role. It was a floor supervisor, essentially, but I got to do a lot of things. Sometimes it felt like too much, and probably was, but I juggled it well enough. Counting 6 cash drawers & documenting discrepancies, taking in shipments, updating inventory, merchandising to a planogram, and more.

I found I was able to handle more responsibility than I thought, and it felt good, at least in retrospect. It was pretty chaotic at the time.
