Q&A with Frank Siano

Digital Marketing Manager

What is the hardest part of any web or print project, in your opinion? (There is no wrong answer)

The hardest part of any project is managing budget and resources and based on this prioritizing what should get done first. Also should you PM the project as Waterfall or agile depending on the project (Is it from scratch? are you updating an existing project etc.). I also look to see how/if we should phase a project.

How do you handle it when you notice a project is going off track?

I regroup the team. Determine who is working on what and then see if we need to pull in others (If budget allows) or communicate with project owners to let them know what is going on with the project. I find clear communication with project owners is usually well received. If the timeline is truly needed than typically they find budget and resources to get back on track. Or they are ok with the additional timeline.

Whose fault is it when you have to go back and perform work again because what you did wasn’t what ultimately was needed?

That is always the UI guys fault (Joking!)

Everyone is to blame. The project owner for not giving enough detail on the project, the PM for not scoping out the project correctly etc.

Who is the ultimate decision-maker in any project you work on?

Whomever the project owner is. AKA the person paying the bills.

What would make your job or role on any project easier?

A more well organized IT team and more ownership of the projects and web properties.
