Perhaps one of the most important parts of my job is writing documentation for developers. Trying to anticipate and provide answers to questions they would have, preemptively, requires putting on a different hat and thinking in a totally different way than the way I thought about the issues from a UX and visual design perspective. 

Being able to translate what is in your head to someone that doesn’t think the same way you do, and hasn’t studied the problems the way you have, oftentimes sets good designers apart from great ones.
