What a thrilling end to the 2021 Formula One season it has been. Our British/Dutch household was split with cheering for Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen yesterday. Well driven both — they don't make the rules or the calls they simply drive to entertain us all.

Straight after the chequered flag all I picked up from my backlog Lewis' life up to his arrival into the world of stupidly very fast cars, technology, tactics, teamwork and politics. It was written in 2007 though, his rookie season. And really should have had Part I inserted into the title. Surely he would have known much much more would have come in the next 14 years then to go out so early with an autobiography. And they have.

But for now this is his self written story up until how he made it into Formula One. Concluding at the end of his first year in the Grand Prix scene which culminated in 2nd place overall in the championship after crossing the line at Interlagos (Brazil).

It all starts from and encapsulates from childhood to karting to Formula Three to GP2 and finally a NoS injection into the seat of a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes machine partnering Fernando Alonso at the age of 22. Part II soon?
