I received a Community Spotlight last week and I still can’t come to grips with it.
I joined Data Science for All by Correlation One a couple months ago and was thrown into the world of data and tech. Prior to joining, I wouldn’t have come close to describing myself as “tech-y”. Honestly, even the thought of learning to code during the application was INTIMIDATING. I had always been better with people and prided myself on my “soft skills.”
While navigating through this program, what I thought I would struggle with had come more naturally and I was (and still am) excited to continue learning. Just because you haven’t tried something, doesn’t mean you can’t learn to - who would’ve thought? Haha
I love being able to leverage my soft skills and background in education to make this technical field more approachable (especially for those of us less tech-inclined 😅). This program and the thousand of other fellows in my network have been the most welcoming and supportive group of people I’ve encountered this far.
Anything I can do to share my wealth of knowledge and resources with others is time well-spent for me and it’s humbling to be recognized for it. I look forward to implementing more data-informed decisions and effectively communicating their impact to any audience!
