Early in my career, I was presented with the option of two competing job offers. The first option was debt collection. The second opportunity was to work with people who were unemployed. For me, the choice was easy. I would rather reach out my hand to help someone get up on their feet than to collect their money while they were down. I have since dedicated my career to helping people pursue their education and employment.

With more than ten years of experience working in higher education, vocational training, and professional development, I enjoy helping students achieve their goals. Currently, I work as an academic advisor at Houston Community College.

Previously, I worked as a Program Coordinator managing classroom-based and online professional development programs for the School of Continuing Studies at Rice University and as a Financial Aid Specialist where I administered the scholarship programs for four different WorkSource locations.

Colleagues know me as a creative problem solver who comes through in the clutch. Integrity and authenticity are my strengths and that is most evident when I advise students. If our programs won’t meet your needs, I will direct you where to go.

Two of my proudest achievements were being asked to speak on the behalf of the staff at the Rice University Centennial Address and being recognized by the Gulf Coast Workforce Board for providing outstanding business services to their clients.

I’m well-versed in academic advising, professional development, career coaching, and program management. When I’m not working, I like to travel and watch my sons play baseball and basketball.
