Things I’ve built

Trying to go through a bunch of my thinnest cardboard and I was messing around with whether to actually set the height of the cardboard to 0.07in (actual average size of my thin cardboard) or 0.125 in, which is what I normally do. 

Way more color visible if I use the incorrect height, even though it does make it hilariously squatty. Which one do y’all like better?

Fun fact: Doubling the size of all the sides of a 3D object 8x’s the volume and uses a hell of a lot more cardboard.

Turned this model from Thingiverse into a pretty neat looking vase with cardboard. Thinking I'm probably going to do another version with colored cardboard, cause it'll look pretty sweet. 

Also, usually when I do vases they tend to have layers that will fit inside other layers to reduce waste, but this one didn't...so I glued all the middle bits together to make a...thing! 

Turned this model from Thingiverse into a big owl statue that I gave to my sister in law who is a teacher. 

Also enjoyed the intermediate state it got to when I only had the top and bottom put together.

This is my "Welp, Christmas got cancelled by Omicron" project. 

Bought a side table pattern from Tim Ung Designs on Etsy, and then decided to get rid of some smaller pieces of 1/4 Cherry and Maple plywood by making a cover for the top. 

I originally wanted to finish it with Danish oil but that stuff reeks if you use it inside, and won't dry properly outside when it's cold. It's like four degrees here, so I wound up finishing it with butcher block oil instead, which can be used indoors without stinking up the joint.

Made a crappy Target TV stand marginally less crappy, with lasers!

One of our cats always comes running when we open our linen closet. So I made a sign.
