You should definitely listen to this conversation between Lenny and Camille Rickets if, like me, you (want to) focus on creating content strategies for community-centered brands or simply want to include community initiatives in your growth strategy.

One thing I know about Notion is how good they are at including users in their process, and Camille led the efforts for that from their early days.

My takeaways:

1️⃣ The most resonant takeaway

‘Give your community time to actually grow in what feels like an organic fashion.’

Always been my stand as someone who’s currently building a community.

2️⃣ The most interesting takeaway

Community takes on different forms and, if your product isn’t community-centric, you can still leverage it in a non-traditional way (e.g. customer advisory boards). Doing so requires (1) defining what community looks like for your brand and (2) matching your product-market fit with whether you're strongly enterprise or strongly consumer.

3️⃣ A takeaway we tend to forget

Host your community on an accessible platform. Camille put it well when she said, ’We wanted to be in the course of people's everyday lives. We didn't want to be this other destination that you would have to make a point to go to every day.’
