As part of a 2-week design sprint to redesign something boring, me and another classmate decided to redesign the classic shoebox ...
We chose the shoebox, because we wanted to recreate a solution that addressed growing consumer needs i.e more sustainable packaging, and better packaging for the online consumer.
We called our solution, Bbox.
Our box is made out of 100% recyclable honeycomb cardboard, and is multi-functional (it can be used as a display box, carry bag, and mailer box too!).
Benefits:

Benefits:
- 33% more boxes can be packed in the same area as a normal shoe box...reducing storage costs
- 30% lighter than corrugated cardboard...reducing shipping cost
- Uses 28% less cardboard than normal shoe boxes...save the world woohoo
- Way more efficient as you don't have to buy an extra box to ship the shoes - as our shoe is a mailer box too.
Drawbacks:
- Honeycomb cardboard isn't widely available yet, so can be expensive unless bought in bulk (but most shoeboxes are bought in the thousands anyways - we were on a 'shoestring' budget...)
Oh yeah... we won "People's Award for Favourite Design".
Maybe if we mentioned 'Machine Learning' or 'Blockchain' in our presentation we could've won the Judges awards too - I'll try in the metaverse.
