Started a new side project
I think I might be fully on the Matrix train… not the movie with Neo, but rather the chat tool that’s distributed like email servers are. It’s got a focus on privacy and allows for a much easier way to communicate with multiple groups than Slack does.

I’ve setup my own “homeserver,” which is analogous to email’s smtp server, and now have the ability to have public and private space for chatting with friends.

My server automatically federates with the rest of the Matrix network so I can use my account to join chats on other servers. Conceptually, this is the same as how you can email anyone regardless of where your email starts, be it Fastmail like mine, Gmail, Yahoo, or whatever.
