Left a role at Tech Smart
My work focused on building traction for a K-12 tech workforce development pathway, working closely with administrators and educators to prepare high school graduates with beginning their careers as junior developer roles. The frontier of this project began not in the hills of the Bay Area, but in the Mountain West, namely Utah (in partnership and collaboration through their Silicon Slopes cooperative), Arizona, and Colorado.

As of this writing (September 10, 2021), I'm creating content that I'll begin sharing on October 10, 2021 via Medium. There you'll read deep dives into my process and progress of building traction within a small market like Knoxville, TN.

Opened a new market
Following our success in Utah the previous school year (and after refining our urban and rural strategy over the summer), Arizona and Colorado were ideal markets to explore.

Attended an industry event
California, I learned, is an ideal location to have a conversation with educators about computer science education. However, it's a crowded market.

I spent the summer and early fall of 2019 uncovering where there's a tech ecosystem with as much influence on the local economy as Silicon Valley but without all the noise. That's when I learned about the work happening in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I attended the Silicon Slopes Summit in January of 2020 after months of building relationships with private industry AND local public school districts. The Summit is where we began to establish these public/private partnerships to create the kind of tech workforce development pathway that could lead to jobs for high school graduates.
