Playing to Win: How Strategy Really Works by A.G. Lafley,
Roger L. Martin
The word "Strategy" is a term I use and hear frequently, but even I would admit that I had a hard time defining what it is, and I often confuse it with tactics or objectives. This book clarified what strategy is and how it works. The best parts of the book for me are also some of the worst, I love business stories and this book contains a lot of them in order to show the execution of strategy, however, some stories dragged and some felt more like a case of luck than good strategic thinking. Despite this issue, Playing to Win is one of the best business books I've read, it practices its own teaching by making a choice, unlike many business books that feel wide but shallow.
