I won a Goodreads giveaway and have started reading Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty. I am only about 50 pages in,  but it turns out they were involved right from the start of the "painkiller" revolution, playing a big part in pushing Librium and Valium on an unsuspecting American public. And the number of ways, as early as the 50s, they skirted rules was a harbinger of things to come.
