I recently earned my Ph.D. in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I am lucky enough to have a wide variety of professional experiences over the years, from being a university instructor on the coast of California, to a study abroad coordinator in Prague, working a temp job at Lycée Français de New York, and a high school job in the kitchen of the Stanley Hotel-a location that inspired The Shining! Before I was a graduate student, I spent 12 years in the field of university study abroad.

Today, my research is in the field of global security politics with a focus on the emerging military technology of autonomous weapons. While the political debate over trying to reign in "killer robots" is growing, the pressure to develop and field them is also building. My intervention concerns the conceptual backgrounds of these two countermovements and their interaction. I examine how the U.S. military imagines future conflict and how this projected future impacts the capabilities and characteristics of the autonomous weapons that result from military R&D/Aqusition processes.

I love teaching politics at the collegiate level. Between serving as an instructor and as a Teaching Assistant, I've taught over 1,200 undergraduates in International, American, and Comparative politics, along with Political Theory, Global Environmental politics, and American History.
