Facilitated a design sprint

🏃🏽 Design Sprint? Try design marathon!

Why I've always been torn about the design sprint method.

Two weeks ago, we did a successful "split" design sprint. That is, we heavily condensed the individual components and used them to run smaller sessions/workshops throughout the week. This worked and was even more than practical!

For me, design sprints have always been very

  • Intensive
  • Filling format
  • Hyped

☝️ The chance is high to rather disappoint expectations and confirm reservations. Similarly, often one sprint does not make a success. Yet the tools and methods make the format an extremely convincing framework. As with any working framework, you can adapt it for yourself.

The division into smaller chunks and the constant repetition of methods (iterations of the actual design sprint) turn the sprint into a marathon.  When the sprint becomes a marathon, teams adopt its principles into their everyday actions and thus achieve even more sustainable solutions and not just one-off ideas.

⏰  Oh yes, and by the way, everyone involved has more time for their daily challenges!

Give it a try. Especially experienced sprinters or product teams should adopt the different tools much more naturally into their routines.
