Hi I'm Jeppe and I'm a 🧑💻 software engineer, 🤵♂️ leader, 👨🌾 farmer, 👷♂️ builder, 👨🎨 maker, 🕹 gamer, 🏃♂️ runner, but above all else a 👨👩👧 farther and husband.
Work
I currently spend most of my days working as a Frontend Tech Lead at Cactus Communications, where I'm responsible for the frontend tech stack, as well as the awesome engineers in the frontend team. I have a huge affinity for everything Node.js and TypeScript, I've spent the last 5 years building React applications, and I look forward to the day where I can build Svelte apps professionally. I've also spent quite some time building various backends, so I'm not solely focused on the frontend. I'm currently developing my Engineering Management skills with the help of Camilla Fournier's great books on the subject.
On the side I'm working on my third startup - UniHelper, where we match college students into study groups using clever algorithms and Google Sheets. It's pretty fun, and both the universities and students are pretty happy about it, which makes it even more fun.
Life
I live on a small hobby farm with my family, where we take care of the forrest, horses, chickens, and everything in between. I've become pretty good at driving the old Ford 2000 without crashing in to too much stuff. I also love tinkering with electronics, big and small, and I'm currently building my own ergonomic keyboard from scratch (and by "currently" I mean "put off indefinitely due to becoming a farther recently").
I'm greatly inspired by the JavaScript community and everything regarding the open source landscape. Unfortunately I don't prioritise participating in it right now, as that would take precious time away from my family.
I love mindful running, which is the intersection between two things I find highly valuable but don't seem to quite spend enough time on: meditation and running.
I enjoy writing and especially technical writing as it requires a lot of empathy with the reader to make the outcome enjoyable and understandable. I really hope that I can spend more time writing blog posts and similar in the future, but for now it's all about family and friends in my spare time.
