I've spent the past 6 years working remotely for teams of all types: Mostly in-office, a mix of in-office and remote, and fully distributed (globally).
Through these years I've formed many opinions on how teams can do a better job staying in sync with one other, communicating effectively, and raising the bar regardless of their proximity to one another.
