While working on Narro, we noticed a trend emerging where startups would make outrageous promises and gain hype by restricting access, providing a waitlist, and allowing users to climb that list by sharing their referral code.

In an attempt to poke fun at that strategy, we started a joke startup called "Pigeon" - the first service to ever programmatically deliver your messages by carrier pigeon. Of course, you couldn't obtain it immediately - you had to join a list and share your link to get early access.

We gained some significant media traction, including the MIT Technology Review, a Motherboard interview, and even a mention from Kai Ryssdal on https://www.marketplace.org/2015/09/30/mail-wing-and-prayer/">NPR's Marketplace.
