THE FAMILY BOOK

What do statistics, private jokes, Christmas and my family have in common? The answer is: Me. 🙋‍♀️

I love fun and insightful statistics, I live for private jokes and my family shares a lot of memories together that are very valuable to all of us. So for last years Christmas, I created our "Family Book".

THE IDEA 💡

I wanted to create a collection of all the things that mean something special to us as a family. Movies, vacations, signature meals and everything that makes us who we are. All of this information should turn into a book that we could all read and cherish together.

CONCEPT PHASE ✍️

Over the course of two weeks, I collected questions and statements. Most of them were humorous, some were quite personal. I planned all of the content in Figma, were I created an overview of all questions and pages. Then, I sent all the questions to each family member individually.

ILLUSTRATION & DESIGN WORK 🖥️

After receiving all answers back, I started working on the chapter illustrations and page designs. All of the illustrations are based on our favorite movies, little private jokes, legendary stories and family objects. The color palette turned out to be retro and playful which fits the whole concept in my opinion.

THE BOOK 📖

On Christmas, everybody got to unwrap their "Family Book" and it was a huge success. My family loved it and it made me very proud to see the joy on their faces. My work for this project really paid off and I'm sure the book will be a family treasure to be kept forever.
