Pre-Internet Projects - Working on a 27 year old Bulletin Board System (BBS)

Retro tech

Since the early days of the 'net I've run a BBS. Faithfully being setup in whatever cupboard of the appartement I happened to be in at the time.

Since the mid 2000s the board has been running on Santronic's Wildcat! Interactive Net Server, Wildcat! BBS software was a popular platform used during the early days of the internet and the rise of online communities. Developed by Mustang Software in the 1980s, Wildcat! BBS became one of the most feature-rich and widely used BBS software packages available.

Wildcat! BBS allowed users to set up their own bulletin board systems, which were essentially text-based online communities where users could connect, communicate, and share information. These systems were accessed through dial-up modems, and users could interact with the BBS using terminal software.

Today the system is a tiny bit cluttered from years of existing but also that I've not really been able to devote a lot of time to good up keep. During this project I have my work cut out for me with new designs of the menus, logins, and other screens as well as trying to figure out where the issues are with some of the corrupted files.

Wish me luck !
