Marco Spinello

Tech writer, docs-as-code, git, markdown, asciidoc, rst, I can learn enough of many things to be dangerous.

API and SDK docs are the most fun thing there is to do for a tech writer.

Dangerous, not proficient, at: Python, JS, CSS, git, bash, linux, docker, CTI (cyber threat intelligence)

I also play electric guitar (metal) and bass (disco).

Edited a blog post
I edited a new blog post for the Miro engineering tech blog:

Optimize SPA bundle size to speed up application loading

It was a great read that gave me specific insight into Next.js, which is something I'm trying to get more familiar with.

My 2021 Highlights
+ 3
  • I resumed Indian sitar lessons in June 2021 (stopped in March 2020 because of the pandemic and the first lockdown). I'm so grateful to my teacher Darshan-ji for her infinite patience and constant encouragement.

  • I rediscovered how much fun it is to play electric guitar after an almost 8-year hiatus.

  • I enjoyed playing fretless bass: fretless is freedom.

Personal event
My 2021 Highlights
I was by my mom's side when it mattered.
This is the single most important event of 2020 (May) - 2021 (March).

Wrote technical documentation
My 2021 Highlights
I got my open PRs reviewed and approved, and I published to our docs site 2 new how-to articles, and 1 get started in 1 minute article.

Feedback from an engineer in the team I'm part of:

"Thanks for writing these how-tos Marco!
This is valuable information that makes everything more clear and will save developers a lot of time."

I feel grateful for working with people who inspire me to grow professionally, and to be a good human being every day.

A rewarding way to walk comfortably toward the beginning of 2022 :-)

Hackathon support
Wrote technical documentation
Just home from my evening shift as part of the fantastic Miro support team during the Junction Hackathon 2021.

While our DevRels encouraged, engineers supported, and pretty much everyone in the support team troubleshot and rooted for the participants in the hackathon, I pushed a bunch of PRs and did almost real-time docs updates as follow-ups to feedback from the developers.

Tiring but fun!
