Third week of Memorisely's UX/UI Bootcamp

Things really get down to business.

What do I take away from this week?

User flows are diagrams and show the path that users take to reach their goal. Decisions always lead to a branching, which influences the further progress.

In summary, user flows consist of 6 parts:
➡️ Start of the flow
➡️ Decisions
➡️ Choices (yes/no)
➡️ Input
➡️ Process/action
➡️ End of the flow and the user has reached his/her goal.

💡Write down the user flow literally before you start creating the user flow. Saves time and brings clarity before you even start.

I was also reminded again how important well-written user stories are and that they should always be formulated in the same way:

1️⃣ As a (user segment),
2️⃣ I want to (user goal),
3️⃣ so I can (outcome).

It was super exciting to see how our whole class mapped the same user flow in Figjam at the same time and how different the outcomes were. Just amazing! 🚀

This week was also the time for mid fidelity wireframes in Figma. Quick solutions that aren't pixel perfect, but bring the results of research, ideation and user flows into something more specific. 🎉

With the help of libraries, the compilation of wireframes is easy and with plugins like Auto Flow, the path becomes clearly visible. So we’re all getting used more and more in handling Figma functionalities.

Important for wireframes⁉️
➡️ Keep it simple, reduce the design to greyscale and do not use photos, icons or similar. Use placeholders instead.

✏️ Besides digital tools, you can also use pen and paper to create simple wireframes. It's quick, is totally free and you're just away from your digital devices for some time! Love it! 🤩

A full week with lots of information and challenging tasks. Now it's time for wireframing! I'm so excited to see the designs my classmates come up with and what they have in mind for our case study for Margot Community. On to another week! 🚀
