Monthly Network Talk about Software and Technology

What kind of network events are there? During the pandemic, user groups for developers switched to video conferencing. I have attended several online user group events. They mainly consisted of one person presenting a topic over an hour or more. These events are precious, and I sometimes attend them. But in my personal experience, they do not prioritise networking. Instead, they are about learning new things. For that, I am also in a coaching group for developers. The two are complementary, and I do not want to miss any. However, for me, there was still something missing.

In 2019, I was doing monthly in-person meetups for drinking a beer once a month. That was very interesting, and people from various professional backgrounds joined. Unfortunately, the group does not exist anymore.

I wanted to re-create something similar to the monthly beer but without in-person meetings and more specific to my interests.

FriDev Twitter Space About Startups

The goal of the monthly FriDev audio event is to network with other developers and technology enthusiasts and have interesting discussions.

This time we are going to discuss startups:

  • What is the difference between being self-employed and running a startup?
  • When do you start to hire people and turn your project into a startup?
  • What is the Difference Between Startup and Corporate Culture?

The Twitter Space will be started by @FriDevSpace. You cannot speak on the desktop version of Twitter. Please use the Smartphone app on Android or iOS.

We had the second edition of our monthly Twitter Space and it was amazing.

FriDev Twitter Space

The goal of the monthly FriDev audio event is to network with other developers and technology enthusiasts and have interesting discussions.

The topic this time was: «The Value of Side Projects»

  • Why should I do a side project?
  • How do I start a side project?
  • How do I get a side project done?

Idea behind FriDev

Twitter Friday Spaces are usually every first Friday of the Month.

Popularity of Twitter Spaces

Twitter Spaces gained popularity in the tech Twitter community. Spaces are still Beta, but the adaption is quite high and Twitter gives the product a high priority.

Goals

The goal of the monthly FriDev Space is to network with other developers and technology enthusiasts and have interesting discussions.

Actually, it is like a “tiny radio show” than a “user group” because everything is public and only some guests are speakers but not all.

Networking

Since it is public and everyone can listen, it might also be only the start for your networking activities. The space should be a starting point to reach and interact with new people, gaining new perspectives on the topics you are interested in around software development, and it’s future.
