I'm still learning how best to engage our local media, but one thing I know all too well is the cost of cognitive load when you're already swamped. I took that into consideration when preparing my first press release in April.
 
Prior to my taking this role, our releases were sometimes 2-4 pages long, so I set a personal goal to keep it at half a page, highlighting the most important aspects in case it was still TL;DR.

The release was picked up in full by Life in the Finger Lakes and the news was also shared by WHCU Radio! We also exceeded our $10,000 fundraising goal, unlocking a $10,000 match, for a total of $24,000 in support of program scholarships.
