This post was one of my most simple favourites. The GIF leverages the combined advantages of photos and videos - especially in this case. Frames being shot frame-by-frame allowed more ease of editing (D.I.) but with the interactive appeal of a video.
Simple as the content might appear, many details still required attention. As this was a frozen fried product, it was crucial to thaw it before the shoot. The next concern would be to clean off the condensation for presentation and to prevent damage to the yellow backdrop.
However, the biggest point of concern was the chicken’s oil trail. A single blotch of grease would soil the backdrop; resulting in retakes or extra editing work. Leaving nothing to chance, I had the bottom of the chicken padded to reduce the oil and act as a protective moving platform.
Entertaining as the animated chicken was, I personally enjoyed the minute detail of the packaging’s tear. Curling the cut strip with a blade was also a subtle choice made in the moment.
