Gary Jules - Mad World (12/15/2003) intended as a B Side for “Pale Shelter” Roland Orzabel wrote this on an acoustic guitar at 19. His perspective being “it’s the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had”. I first heard this record in Donnie Darko & Gears Of War as a kid. 

The Killers - Mr Brightside (September 29th 2003) was one of their first songs that they wrote together. It tells the story if infidelity. The song was created as a reference mix on an 8 console with no automation and only has 1 verse. Named song of the decade by various UK radio stations. 

Crazy Town - Butterfly (October 24 2000), samples Red Hot Chili Peppers “Pretty Little Ditty” and peaked at #1 on the Hot 100 charts for 2 weeks. At the time it was declared as “the one song that completely crossed over from the rap-rock genre”.
