10th Feb was my last day at Google.
Technically I was made redundant, as a result of the change in strategy in Area 120 late in 2022 that resulted in our project, Carbon Index, being discontinued.
I was privileged to be offered the chance to take roles in areas that just a couple of years ago would have been super exciting, but instead I focused on continuing a role in climate / sustainability. Having spent the past 18 months working on climate, fulfilling a long-latent passion, I don't want to go back.
So, without finding a climate role to stay in Google, I'm now a Xoogler. I'm taking a pause to work out exactly what's next, either building or joining a climatetech company.
