I was part of the committee that organised SISTEM 2019, a tech conference by students for students. It was organised by many of the computing societies from around Ireland. This was UCD's first year contributing to the conference and the 2nd edition overall.
This year's edition scaled up on the previous successes of the the conference, now with two concurrent tracks running and 200 attendees.
It was a really great experience and it was really cool to work with people from other colleges throughout Ireland. It really kindled a love for organising events and conferences and made me understand exactly how much effort is required for large-scale events like this.
It also inspired me to propose hosting SISTEM 2020 in my own college, UCD...
