Márk from Cisco is looking for Software Engineers

Looking for contributors to Dex

Dex is an open source, federated OpenID Connect provider. The project is currently part of CNCF as a Sandbox project.

We are looking for contributors who are interested in the identity and security are of software engineering.

Ideal contributors share our enthusiasm for making the Open Source and Cloud Native ecosystem safer.

We imagine two types of ideal contributors (aligned with what our greatest challenges right now):

Dex has a large number of outstanding PRs and issues. We can't triage them effectively right now, so we need people who can help us drive the number of PRs and issues down. They can do that by reviewing PRs and issues and either accepting them if they are good enough or rejecting/marking them for being closed.

Some core maintainer would then go through these processed issues and PRs and make a final decision about them.

A couple hours of work every week would already make a HUGE difference for us.

Another problem we are struggling with is the low number of core maintainers. We have a roadmap with rather large items on it and we don't have enough resources to do them.

So we are looking for a set of contributors who we could groom for becoming a core maintainer. We would expect them to help us plan larger items on the backlog and do the actual implementation (or at least parts of it).

This kind of work is hard and not always rewarding (well...at least not by the community), but knowing that you do important work for making the ecosystem more secure can actually be quite satisfying.
