Yearly recap
On November of 2021 I forked a repository on GitHub that had to do with Portainer templates. Every month I added several services with docker compose. I added over 40 services and definitely 90% of them result in working services/containers.
I also forked another repos and beautified my GitHub readme page which also increased my appreciation of markdown language . This resulted in using Obsidian app via syncing with my self hosted nextcloud instance, a write up of my method will be available on my personal blog.
Talking about my personal blog, I must say I resumed it now on December. What I didn't resume, was my podcast TechIoT. The reason?
On 18th of March I became the father of twin sons! The miracle of life is valueless! Being a father is the most exciting role I've ever had. The boost to my creativity, mood and general well-being is increased tenfold even if some nights I sleep less than four hours. Now on their 9th month since their birth, we sleep on average over 6 hours, which is something that we couldn’t imagine especially the first 3 months of their life!
After COVID I found myself in need of something new especially all those nights with corona-insomnia. I'm glad that meditation and mindfulness is a daily habit now. What I also added in my weekly “habit journal” using the app Habitica is to listen to audiobooks. I started with audible.co.uk and now with audible.com. I also listen to books from jukebooks.gr a new service for my native language which is Greek.
The last couple of months I achieved to pass my Goodreads.com Yearly challenge which was 27 books. I finished with 33 books , most of them audiobooks but also classic books and a couple of ebooks. After all audiobooks are books and still count, right?
I also added some traditional paper books in my crowded (now) shelves/storage and am sure I will find the time to read them in 2023, even if as kids getting older, they require more of our time.
Furthermore, next year I hope I can finish a book that I started writing, some years ago without setting time to finish just with a commitment to do research about it. It’s a sci-fi/philosophy one. (I will probably start a new one for self-improvement)
All in all, 2022 was a blast of a year. Some hours before the end of this year i found some time to write it down so why not publish it? I hope next year I, my family and everyone, achieve more goals finds their purpose and open their “ideas drawer” out in the open.
Have a prosperous and Happy New Year!
