Social media icons are everywhere – you see them in shop windows, on the back of lorries (because, I mean, who wouldn’t want to follow some random haulage company on Facebook?), and of course there’s the web.
Everyone is clamouring to get all the exposure they can, but research shows they get way more prominence in design than they deserve, when fewer than 0.5% of users interact with them.
