The Mangalore Police face a unique human resource challenge. In the last 11 years, of the new 1400 people that have joined the police force in Mangalore, only 68 have been locals from Dakshina Kannada district, which to say the least, is not ideal. Especially so in a city that has its own languages and is culturally distinct compared to the rest of the state.

When I first read about this in Times of India, I was curious and went on a pursuit to create a documentary about it. This documentary on #SalmanNeedsAJob gives you an inside look into the innovative program the Mangalore Police have come up with under the leadership of Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar, in order to tackle this crisis by helping aspirants crack the Karnataka State Police exam.
