My 2021 Highlights

2021 ... I'm incredibly proud of what my team was able to accomplish, but I sincerely hope that we never have another year like this.  We have cleared 2021 ... I'm incredibly proud of what my team was able to accomplish, but I sincerely hope that we never have another year like this. 

We have cleared out a years-old backlog of technical debt. We have laid a foundation from which the San Antonio Food Bank will be able to begin comprehensive digital transformation and workflow automation initiatives. 

We have done this despite the fact that every person on our team has been significantly impacted and forever changed by both the pandemic and the winter storm that both struck San Antonio with a fierce intensity.

Thank you to everyone who provided shoulders to cry on, Zooms to strategize on, memes and puns to raise our spirits, and motivation to power through. 

We couldn't do it without your help. I couldn't do it without your help. Thanks for making 2021 what it was, despite ... everything.

Launched Freshtrak to allow our food bank clients to schedule curbside pickup of donated food. This provides our clients with a solution to receive the same food they would pick up at a "mega" distribution event but at the time and place of their choosing and in a manner much more similar to a curbside pickup from their local grocer.

Launched OrderAhead in San Antonio to provide families-in-need with a convenient and private means to select from available products to build free "orders" of healthy food that best meets their personal dietary requirements and preferences.

Completed on-time delivery of critical IT infrastructure to support networking, physical security, HVAC automation, and multi-purpose AV systems in the newly constructed, 60,000 sq ft Mays Family Culinary Center.

Completed an 8 week project to fully transition an annual, in-person conference to a 100% virtual event leveraging a Cvent-based solution. 

Nearly 300 participants engaged in a four-track conference which blended pre-recorded presentations, livestream sessions, and interactive panels to empower healthcare workers with information and tools to better identify and address food insecurity among their patients.

Successfully implemented new DR/BCP processes as a disaster declaration was issued for all 254 counties in Texas due to severe winter weather that hit right as the first major wave of Covid-19 cases were beginning to hit our region. 

These processes enabled the Food Bank to continue supporting emergency food relief to over 90,000 individuals per week even during unprecedented inclement weather events, Covid-related precautionary staff displacement, and other operational challenges.
