185+ folks tuned in to discuss the most vulnerable issues of Open Source: Sustainability, Security, Funding and long-term measures for the future of the ecosystem. Co-hosted by Shebuel from OSCA.
Since the year 2020, Open Source has undergone a significant transformation.
At the same time, this Decade will be exciting and challenging.
Although funding has increased, we still need to work on some mechanisms to ensure long-term viability.
Justin quotes, "Inclusivity isn't the most important problem of open source, but security is."
Julia goes on to say Standardization must evolve in tandem with the community, and there must be greater awareness of existing opportunities for Maintainers to help the project grow.
Alex chips in to talk about his challenges and experience since 1997 at NLnet Labs.
Speakers included,
Justin Dorfman, Program Manager at Sourcegraph, Co-Founder of Sustain OSS initiative.
Julia Ferraioli, Sr. Technical Program Manager at Twitter (Ex-Google), Co-Founder of Open Source Stories
Alex from NLnet Labs - Director of Product Dev.
Rob Underwood, Nick Craver, Dirk (Maintainer of MagickNet) and other Tech Leaders, Maintainers and Supporters of Open Source actively participated in this space.
