Spoke on a podcast
I had an enjoyable conversation with Pippa Woodhead of Tigerhall about some of my thoughts on Agile; how to focus on the real benefits of the Agile philosophy, without getting stuck in the weeds of too much rules and ritual.

My recent podcast discussion on The Design Systems podcast is now live - good, deep-dive, conversation on design systems ROI.

Recorded a podcast
I think the longest single recorded discussion (in one take, at least) that I've had. But really excited to have a long discussion about the ROI of design systems with Design Systems Podcast. Looking forward to hearing the edit, and posting the link when the episode goes live. Also a pleasure to dig into the topic on the chat with Danny Phillips of Procore, really insightful.

Asked a question
I'm curious - for those who work in companies that have (or would say they have) a design system, how many have multiple design systems?

Either actively competing, or for different units within the business, or for internal versus external implementation, etc.

Talking about design systems
In the first few months of the new role, I've been talking to a lot of companies.

I think we're past the stage where the common questions are "what is a design system?", or that they don't have a design system.

Instead, lots of companies have lots of pieces that they think might be...bits...of a design system, and the exciting thing is being able to talk to them about what comes next.

I don't talk about design systems as a "thing" any more, I talk about design systems as a journey.

Creating design system documentation
Really interesting in my new role to be thinking about different design system models, and how to implement, in a more "company agnostic" way.

One of the exciting things about stepping into a more external facing role, defining IBM's approach to working with clients on design systems, has been expanding my view after several years of leading the IBM Carbon Design System. There are so many lessons from that experience, but also now repositioning my thinking so that those lessons become more reusable.
