Started a short term rental business
Designer House Remodel Part VI: Airbnb Adventures
As a designer, I think we are predisposed to having our products used. I (and my awesome team) had worked so hard on the house, it felt like it was something other people might enjoy too. So, I decided that once the home got to a certain level of acceptability, I wanted to try it out as a short term rental while I traveled for work

As it happens, I used to be a designer at Airbnb, but it's a whole different ball game being the host. You learn all kinds of foreign skills, like how to write a good listing ("Saunter through the garden, with the sun wafting through the trees, feeling the drought-friendly turf between your toes...")

Nothing beats the kind reviews–people have really loved the home, and it's made me really excited to keep upping the game for guests (hot tub???). Plus, every time I arrive home, my home is totally clean!

This is also the first time I've generated sizable income on a skill that isn't designing pixels on a screen, which is really freeing. More on this later.
