Yesterday's meeting with ambitious UAE job seekers was quite lively. The venue was crammed, and the participants came from a variety of professions and had intriguing backgrounds. We went through a lot of ideas and tactics for finding and securing a job in the UAE.
Here are a few ideas I'd like to share:
1. If you don't have any recruiters in your network, simply join the "Dubai Jobs / UAE Recruiters" LinkedIn groups. Once you've joined a group, you may send a free message to your second and third degree contacts.
2. Keep a watch out for additional networking events in the next weeks/months as Dubai steadily removes restrictions on events, activities, and social gatherings. People in Dubai are so well connected, I often say, that if you're connected to them, you're connected to opportunities.
3. Simply submitting your job applications may not ensure you success right away because competition is high, and a recruiter often receives 300-500 applications. However, being able to pursue and push your application with the assistance of your contacts and references will make a major difference.
