What a fantastic evening we spent yesterday at the Pakistan Pavilion at the Dubai EXPO 2020. We had a campfire discussion with students (ages 12 to 16), who presented their amazing ideas and perspectives on the advantages and disadvantages of social media.
100% of the students believed that social media is necessary and integral to our everyday lives. They did underline, however, that proper usage of these platforms is just as vital. Academic institutions, teachers, friends, and parents should all come forward to educate children about the complexities of social media platforms.
I was utterly taken away by young children of this age discussing mental health, anxiety, time management, and depression as social media drawbacks.
