After uniquely challenging experiences leading the State Planning Team during the national emergency of Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie, I found a need to explore more about leading teams in highly stressful situations. Among others, I came across Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek.
This codified a lot of what I'd experienced over the years, but taught so much more about how to build and lead a team that reinforces itself during the hardest times, instead of blowing apart by building that circle of safety.
Lessons from this have informed lots of experiences I've had since, including leading during other significant emergencies, restructures at work, and personal crises.
